On this rather interesting review show of The Beer Snobs, B gives us a the challange of tasting Firemans Brew Redhead Ale and Cornado Brewing Co. Idiot IPA. Cheers and keep spreading the word of good beer to your friends!

After that last post, it reminded me of the best beer experience I ever had while watching a live sporting event.

Let me take you to a wondrous place, where it’s just a little better there than us here in So Cal.

This place…Seattle.

I was visiting with some friends in Seattle when we decided to take in a Mariners game. Even though I ignored the game most of the time, it was the best damn baseball game I ever ignored! Once again, I know what you’re thinking, “How could you ignore such a fast paced game?”

Easy! This place had over 25 beers (by my count) to drink and over 10 on tap (Check out the photo). There was even a point, during a stretch in the 5th inning, when a beer guy who had actual 22oz drinks available, would come down the aisle and would pour the beer of your choice for you!

Now, after the pulled pork nachos and the Mac & Jacks African Amber Ale (a must have drink if you’re in that area), I didn’t remember what he poured me. All I remembered was that it was a very reasonable 12 bucks! Plus, I was grateful because I didn’t have to get up to get another beer and I could comfortably keep my buzz going.

So here’s to you, Seattle mariners, I just want to say kudos. While your team may suck; your beer and food are amazing! I will always make an effort to stop by the Safeco Field when I visit the awesome city of Seattle.

Wow…We have had a website for a few years yet we have no official blog.

Let’s start things off right here.

Howdy, I am Beer Snob B and let’s examine the places where craft brews are gaining in serious foothold. So being a clipper’s fan and not usually expecting to see my team play beyond their regular season, I jumped on the opportunity to get some playoff tickets.

While walking around the entire staples center what do I see? Why, damn good beer for a damn good price! Hell, even at the Bud booth they had Stella available. Now I know what you’re thinking, “Hell, we can get Stella anywhere.” While that statement may be true, it is still quite impressive that we can get it at sporting events now.

The thing that made me proud to be a beer snob was that they had a Hoegaarden kiosk right across from the Bud beer line and guess what else? They had Leffe there! Now I didn’t know what the hell a Leffe was but I tried it and thought to myself this is truly the life: Sitting down, watching the clippers do a little damage and drinking a nice brown beer with a mild aftertaste. The only way this could have been any better was if they had a beer guy bring the beautiful brew to me in my chair. Alas that just wasn’t possible being in the 300 section and all.

Me and Jo sit at our booth singing counting crows off key and being oblivious to the world. As we sit, sing, eat, drink beer and think could there be any other place where I would like to sit and spend a Friday night drinking. No… not at all. This place is Limericks Tavern in Upland, CA.

When you walk into Limericks Tavern, you half expect somebody to shout your name and hand you a beer. This is one of the most welcoming bar experiences I have been too. As you walk in, you’ll notice the beautiful wood work around the bar and the seemingly endless taps of beers available. We chose to visit the bar on a special event day, the Stone Brewery Tap Takeover. We ordered some food from the menu and checked out the beer list. I can’t describe how awesome the food was but I am going to give it my best effort. Hef ordered a wonderful looking Ruben sandwich and proceeded to demolish it before we had a chance to photo it. While the rest of our table had a chance to try the irish nachos (a must order!), which were potato skins covered in corned beef and some amazing cheese. Calling these amazing would be doing them a injustice you need to have these when you visit. Our waitress Crystal also recommended the sliders (comes in angus, corn beef, pastrami and BBQ pork) and the popcorn shrimp. The sliders were good while the popcorn shrimp were good enough to be a entree instead of appetizer. Of course we did get our beer on before the stone specials were given. The table ordered two Raging Bitches (a rather crazy IPA), Firestone Double Barrel ale, and a Delirium Termmius.

Now time to review the Special beers we had for the stone event.

Stone Mixtape Ale: The jungle juices of beer this seemed to be the crazy hybrid of a beer that stone said well we got leftovers of all this beer and well since stone squared is awesome stone to the seventh power with some herbs will be the best thing ever…. Yes they are damn close to making this proclamation true. This beer dances around the young life keeping favors of thyme and lemon grass here and there making you curious on to who the hell is the evil genius who created this wonderful concoction. I doubt you will find this by bottle

Stone Smoked Porter w/Vanilla Beans: If there is ever a beer that starbucks should back this is it. This beer has a wonderful deep porter flavor with a amazing aftertaste of vanilla mailing this feel like a beer latte. Again I am not a porter fan but I could see my self sipping on this beer here and there.

Double Bastard 2010: Wow… what the hell man it’s up now down. and black is now white. This aged Double Bastard makes stone seem like a mellow beer. I enjoy the hoppy flavor, just in this version is is much more subdued. Maybes my taste buds are warped due to the amazing food but this is one of my fave beers of the night… Easy!

Stone LeVaratation Ale: Eh… Very eh… Again it’s not a good beer but compared to the ones we had before it really isn’t that awesome

Bear Republic/Fat Head/Stone TBA: What the fuck man? Browns ain’t bitter! Browns should be sweeter. Fuck man I don’t like it. Hef loves it though. He says it is is a nice mix of a brown and ipa that haven’t been done yet. I think Hef is smoking rocks but hell he also loves licking sand paper. Yeah it says its bitter so if you are dumb enough to expect less [me] then you get what you deserve. So the flavors they described on the page are true. I just don’t like it. Again beer snobs reminder even if we don’t like it it doesn’t mean you don’t do try it also.

Stone Cali-Belgique Belgian IPA: Ok, this is the most unassuming beer you seen. Btw this is our 6th beer and we did this due to the fact you get a free pint glass after ever two stone beers (six beers, three cups and intoxication is on its way – good job stone!) this beer is the old Kung-fu master. You know that old guy with a cane with a limp and pink eye. You size him up and you think really man this guy is the master I can kick his ass. Then you attack it and all of a sudden your foot is in your mouth and your screaming for your mommy. And you think really man wtf I’m better than this so you take another swig and you now have the old man on your back laughing at your incompetence. Golden in color with a after taste that will put you on your ass. You need to order it. And let it kick your ass all over the bar.

And this is why we call the place a beer snob favorite location. Great food great beer and beer choices and of course even better prices. Go check out the tavern and have your self a great time.

This is a unique episode since it’s the first one that we recorded outside of the Inland Empire. On this Long Beach special, Hef and Shawnna get to try the Belmont Brewing Company’s Strawberry Blonde and Top Sail.

Note: We must apologize for the audio issues for the first couple of minutes of the show, we had an issue that we weren’t able to fully correct but we didn’t want to completely scrap this show.

For the second time this month, we’re adding another voice to our group of blind taste testers. We welcome Shawnna to the show as they take on the odd couple of Bud Light Platinum and Fox Barrel Ginger & Blackcurrant.

First we forgot to mention that we changed our twitter username to @thebeersnobs (as pointed out on the show, the old one was a little too wordy), so all future direct messages will be answered under that name. Everyone one that is following us doesn’t need to worry, it’s still the same account.

Second we are changing our release dates back to Fridays. So April 16th will be the last Monday release of the show, and beginning May 4th expect The Beer Snobs to be released around 2:00 pm pst every other Friday.

And finally on Friday the 20th, we will be releasing Episode 22.5 which is the Long Beach special that we recently recorded. Also look forward to other specials to be announced within the next month.
